| The Rockhampton Harbour Board kept a trolley at Bajool, the junction forthe branch to Port Alma, for ambulance purposes. There was no road to Port Alma until the 1960's presumably the trolley was intended for use in the case of illness to employeesof the Board at Port Alma. Except that it existed in 1935, nothing is known of this vehicle. |
| There are some curious features about basing this trolley at Bajool. No one lived at Port Alma, and there was no regular train service. When the port was working , waterside workers were taken there by special train, which would have been available for emergencies. When the working was protracted, the workers stayed in a dormitory , but there was then a series of trains bringing meat, again avaiable for emergencies. If the trains were for some reason nto available, it would have seemed better to have based the trolley at Port Alma, to save the time taken for it to run the 16 miles from Bajool. |
| The explosives magazine for Central Queensland was located at Bajool, however and the Harbour Board may have regarded that as a potentially greater source of injury that its wharves at Port Alma. It is also possible that the trolley could have been used to take small numbers of Board employees to Port Alma when trains were not running. |
