Rail Motor Shed
Similar to section cars and maintenance of way equipment, rail motors often played second cousin to the attention locomotives receive when photographing railway rolling stock.

Queensland Government Railways began using a wonderful variety of rail motors and commissioners cars on their network commencing shortly after the birth of the railway in 1865.

Some railmotors were light and only carried a few people where others weighed several tonnes and could haul a number of rail motor trailers, passengers and goods successfully in all parts of the state, including the famous isolated railway between Normaton and Croydon in Far North Queensland.  A rail motor's versatility is high and its imporantance to passengers and local communities was even higher thoughout Queensland.

While Queensland Government Railways utilised a range of classes of rail motors and commissioners cars on the rail network, this area focuses primarilly on the following three categories:
