1928 - Sec. to GM Townsville with copy of minutes of deputation South Johnstone Ambulance Committee to Premier 10-4-28. Deputation - E. Mackness, Chairman S.J. Ambulance. Comm. Superintendent McConachie, & V. Sivyer to Premier McCormack - complain the Ambulance had trouble in running the Railway Ambulance Trolley which they had to use when roads impassible. About 18 months ago, restrictions brought in compelling them to carry railway man. Recently SM himself travelled on all cases, meant cost of 2-3 hours overtime for him. Sometimes delayed for hours to wait at his house until he got dressed. Considered if allowed in daytime without railwayman, should be done at night. No trouble getting off line if train running and, except in cane season, no trains run at night.

GM ND to Sec 16.7.23 - no cases of serious case going by road due to railway official unavailable. To make exception for South Johnstone would be unfair to other ambulance plus risk of car running into some tram at night time.

Telegram (Railway not P.0.) to GM Townsville 24.7.28 - is car allowed in daylight without railwayman (against regulations). If so give reason. Railway telegram 24.7.28 statement not correct, railwayman required to be with car on every occasion.

Memo J.S. 10.7.28 re deputation - obtain information on matter.

"C.A.M." to Minister 25.7.28 - Dept. rule is that Ambulance rail motors not allowed to run unless accompanied by railway employee; then repeats information sent by GM Townsville. (Source check File 1948.6803 Batch 11)

1934 - Ambulance at South Johnstone on 2ft gauge, may run South Johnstone- Innisfail and South Johnstone-Nerada.(GM ND 3.7.34 Memo, QSA A/12988, (File 1948.6803 Batch 11)

1935: Railmotor ambulance South Johnstone allowed to run to Innisfail and Nerada; works under direction of SM Innisfail (GA Clause 145)

Note - neither Innisfail nor South Johnstone 2ft RM Ambulance mentioned 1929 list, nor 1925 GA, but perhaps not necessarily taken notice of ? (JDK)
